ECBL: Harrell collects 2 RBI, Pikeville Orange dumps E. Duplin

PIKEVILLE -- Nolan Harrell knocked in a pair of runs as Pikeville Orange handed East Duplin a 7-3 defeat in their Eastern Carolina Baseball League battle at Charles Davis Field on a humid Tuesday evening.
Harrell, Zach Brewer (RBI), Tyler Daniels and Luke Frederick provided one hit apiece for Orange. Caleb Matthews batted 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Pikeville used four pitchers -- Brewer, Carson Smitherman, Blake Gipson and Cody Whaley. Brewer permitted one hit and one run in two innings. Smitherman tossed 2 2/3 innings of four-hit, three-strikeout relief. Gipson emerged as the winning pitcher with 1 1/3 innings of one-hit, two-strikeout relief.
Whaley threw the final inning.
Orange travels to Calypso today for a doubleheader against North Duplin. The first game starts at 5 p.m.
