ECBL: Matthews leads Pikeville Orange past South Lenoir

Caleb Matthews batted 3 for 3 and hammered out two doubles as Pikeville Orange dispatched South Lenoir, 10-3, in an Eastern Carolina Baseball League game Monday evening.
Matthews collected two RBI, scored three runs and drew a walk. Defensively, he emerged as the winning pitcher with a three-hit, three-strikeout effort that lasted 42/3 innings on the mound.
Cody Whaley (RBI) and Jordan Gay (RBI) provided two hits apiece. Gay tossed 21/3 innings of five-strikeout, scoreless relief.
Nolan Harrell (two RBI), Blake Gipson (RBI), Tyler Daniels (two RBI) and Tyree Artis each contributed one hit. Artis and Daniels combined for four walks.
Pikeville Orange entertains East Duplin today at 6 p.m.
