ECBL: Aycock Green defeats Wayne Country Day

PIKEVILLE -- Chandler Matthews threw a four-hitter during a five-inning stint, and Charles B. Aycock Green handed Wayne Country Day a 6-2 loss in their Eastern Carolina Baseball League game played at Charles Davis Field on Tuesday evening.
Matthews permitted two earned runs, walked three and logged five shutouts. Landon Casey tossed the final two innings of relief.
Cameron Kornegay led the Green offense with two hits. Matthews, Kyle Davis (RBI) and Joey Hampton (RBI) provided one hit apiece.
Hayden Amodeo emerged as the Chargers' top offensive performer with two hits. Mitch Turnage (RBI), John Strickland, Drew Barnes and Parker Smith each collected one hit.
Boone Moody drove in a run.
Lanky right-hander Nick Neal endured the mound loss. He yielded six runs (four earned) on eight hits, walked two and struck out two in 42/3 innings. Bullpen mate Patrick Hall threw 11/3 innings of one-hit relief.
Wayne Country Day (5-2 overall) is the guest of Eastern Wayne on Monday. Game time is 6 p.m.
