North Duplin softball logs 5-inning, mercy-rule win

North Duplin bounced back from a tough loss to Princeton 24 hours earlier with a 12-0, mercy-rule victory over Hobbton on Tuesday.
Haley Brogden and Alyssa Santos each had doubles for the Rebels. Mikayla Koch had three hits and Rylee Pate had two hits.
Pate struck out nine batters in three innings in the circle and allowed no hits. Santos threw two innings of relief, allowing one hit, no runs and striking out four.
North Duplin (12-2-1 overall, 10-1 CC) visits Spring Creek on Thursday.
