SNOW HILL -- Back-to-back champs.
Matt Hall earned player-of-the-year honors and Goldsboro claimed its second consecutive Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference boys' team crown on the Cutter Creek Country Club links Thursday afternoon.
Hall shot a 5-over-par 77 for the Cougars, who posted a four-player total of 341 -- 73 strokes lower than runner-up Greene Central. South Lenoir finished third at 422.
Ayden-Grifton and North Lenoir did not have enough players to post a team score.
"The conditions were brutal with howling winds," said Anthony Hall, the first-year Goldsboro head coach who was named the ECC coach-of-the-year.
Senior Luke McAlduff complimented Hall with an 18-hole effort of 84. Teammates Ty West and Ruben Quiroz shot 87 and 93, respectively. Cameron Anderson fired a 103.
Hall, McAlduff, West and Quiroz earned all-ECC accolades.
The Cougars play host to the Cookout Classic/Wayne County Championships next Tuesday. They have qualified for the regionals, scheduled for May 4 at Cutter Creek CC.
