Mercer gets hat trick against Goldsboro

Lexi Mercer posted a hat trick (three goals) and Payton Lane provided four assists in Rosewood's 5-2, non-conference triumph over Goldsboro on the Branch Pope Field pitch Monday evening.
Freshman Shelby Lemasters and sophomore Rebecca Fitzmaurice each added a single goal for the Eagles. Freshman Jala Holloman and senior Ashley Thornton combined for seven saves in the goal for Rosewood.
Juanita Cortes-Torres and Timaya Williams each scored for the Cougars. Cortes-Torres assisted on Williams' goal. Goldsboro goalies Kay-lin Bethune and Courtney Sutton combined for nine saves.
Rosewood (6-2-1 overall) plays host to archrival Princeton today, while Goldsboro (1-8-4) is entertains North Lenoir on Friday.
