Cam's Challenge: Pierce has title wrapped up

Happy Spring, everyone.

I know technically it started like two weeks ago but it was late March and I could still see my breath which are two unquestionably wintery aspects. It's finally starting to thaw around here though, so your kids won't have to trudge through 1 1/2 inches of snow to get to the bus stop any longer.

We still have some business to attend to, though. Somehow, college basketball is still being played. I know, I don't get it either.

As I'm sure most of you know, the Final Four was played on Saturday night. Duke handled Michigan State in the first game. It was routine, kind of boring, and took way longer than it should of. Basically, it prepped us for baseball season.

The second Final Four game featured unbeaten Kentucky, underdog Wisconsin, and unhappy bracket challenge members. Sparing you the details, I'll just jump to the end and tell you that Kentucky lost. Seven out of our nine panelists had Kentucky in the championship game, with five picking them to win. Now, let's have a moment of silence for the following pickers -- Fred the Dog, Terry Jordan, Fane Greenfield, George Whitfield and me.

Thank you.

A quick correction: Last week I mentioned that Fred the Dog picked Gonzaga over Duke in the Elite Eight, which was not correct. Sometimes reading can be hard. I thought it was pretty incredible that a dog was able to write an email asking for a correction, but then again dogs are incredible animals.Anyway, sorry Fred --- now everyone knows that you picked Duke over Gonzaga. And still went 2-2 in that round.

But enough about the losers.

This town, like the sports-frezied fanatics of a New York, Los Angeles, or Boston, demands winners. Give Fred Pierce, Parker Jones and Joe Gurley all a round of applause for choosing Duke to make it to the championship game. Picking a No. 1 seed to make it this far takes guts. A special shout out belongs to Bill Clingan, who was the lone picker to have Wisconsin in the final.

Statistically speaking, however, we do have a champion. Fred Pierce, take a bow. With your 1-1 performance over the weekend, you ensured yourself the top spot on the totem pole. Let us all take a moment to honor the man, the myth, the legend.

Lastly, and in the theme of college basketball, we have some "late-game" controversy on our hands. Regardless of who picks tonight's game correctly, Fred Pierce will win. He's had the best tournament when it comes to picking games, and even with a loss tonight he will still be a game ahead of anyone else.

With that said, Bill has Wisconsin winning. If the Badgers were to win, Bill would be only one game behind Fred and will have picked the national champion.

What will happen?

Who knows who will be crowned champion?

I'm actually asking you guys though so if you have any ideas please email me.
