Eastern Wayne launched its 2015 season with a 6-3 triumph over South Central in the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference opener for both teams Monday afternoon.
Ethan Quinn, Le Solomon, Gray Sasser and Walker Davis each prevailed in singles play for the Warriors. Sasser earned a straight-set shutout at the No. 5 slot, while Davis dropped just one game.
The tandems of Quinn-Solomon and Sasser-Davis each claimed a doubles point.
"(A) good team performance for (our) first match," EW head coach Craig Hassell sad. "We've only had two practices due to weather cancellations. Hopefully we can build on this win going into Thursday at New Bern."
