Four area players have been selected for all-star games on the private school circuit.

Tyrique McClain, of Wayne Christian School, was selected to the Super 60 Showdown and Goldsboro native Coby White of Greenfield got invited to the North Carolina top 80 showcase.

Wayne Country Day's Joel Davis was selected to the North Carolina Private School All-Star game on March 7 along with Goldsboro native Alonzo Tyson.

"I felt great (when they called)," McClain said. "I knew this was a great event and definitely a blessing getting nominated to be in this event as one of the top 60 in the state is a big deal."

McClain and White got set up with the Super 60 game through a scouting service. McClain is in the division for freshman through juniors and White is in the freshman division.

McClain said he will be playing in the game, and it will be an opportunity for him to play with some players he has played against a lot on the AAU circuit.

McClain has put on incredible displays of scoring this season, having three games where he scored more than 50 points. But this game is still added validation to him, as well as an opportunity to prove himself to his peers.

"Coming from a small school like Wayne Christian that is not basketball oriented, a lot of people question the talent we play," McClain said. "The talent varies some nights ... (But I'm excited about) getting a chance to prove to everyon how good I can be and competing against the top players in the state."

The NC Private School All-Star game features 10 players that have already signed to play in college next season. Davis is headed to Cornell University and Tyson is on his way to High Point University. Tyson transferred from Goldsboro to Trinity Christian.

The game will be held at Providence Day School.
