Sessoms paces Tigers' attack with double-double

SEVEN SPRINGS -- James Kenan capitalized on an 8 1/2-minute scoring drought, and cruised past Spring Creek, 51-40, in Carolina 1-A Conference play Tuesday evening.
Haley Sessoms logged a double-double -- 20 points, 10 rebounds -- for the Tigers, who swept the regular-season series from the Gators. Sessoms pick-pocketed SC for six steals.
James Kenan (11-8 overall, 8-5 Carolina) trailed 11-8 early in the second period. Spring Creek (4-19, 3-10) fell into a shooting slump, which allowed the Tigers to regain control, 18-14, at intermission.
Sierra Johnson's 3-pointer helped Kenan boost its advantage to nine after three periods. Johnson knocked down nine points, while Maquesha Floyd just missed a double-double -- eight points and nine rebounds.
Spring Creek's Destiney Sutton poured in 11 of her team-high 18 points in the fourth quarter. Amber Buchan drained the nets for 15 points, including two 3s -- one in each half.
Tysha Teachey snared 11 rebounds, blocked two shots and handed out two assists for the Gators.
