* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 76, Ayden-Grifton 63 -- Isaiah Cogdell emerged as the Cougars' top scorer with 18 points. Aaron Smith collected 14 points, while Jaryan Hargis contributed 11 points.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 57, Greenfield 46 -- Marcus Metcalf knocked down 17 points and WCDS emerged as the 2015 Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference regular-season champion. Zach Barfield added 14. Wayne Country Day (13-2 overall, 6-0 CPIC) faces Pope John Paul in the CPIC tournament semifinals at Greenfield on Thursday.
* Boys' basketball: South Central 40, C.B. Aycock 16 -- Marquez Farmer and Michael Evans scored three points apiece in the Golden Falcons' home loss. Kamarion Graham, Tayquan Hampton, Matt Willoughby, Muhammad Brooks and Damone Greenfield each provided two points.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Christian 54, Cape Fear Christian 52 -- Jaxon Anderson led three Eagles in double figures with 14 points. Austin Kornegay contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds. Chase King collected 10 points and six rebounds. Logan Jackson had eight points.
* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 31, South Central 14 -- Hannah Vinson knocked a team-best 13 points in the Golden Falcons' home win. Destiny Washington scored seven points, while freshman Cassandra Lassiter had five points.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Grantham 38, Mount Olive 16 -- The final team to play basketball in the old school gymnasium exited as a conference champion Thursday. Meredith Johnson and Erykah Baldwin tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the Bulldogs (11-2 overall) to the Wayne County Middle School Athletic Conference Division II title. Samiya Bess paced Mount Olive's offense with seven points.
* Boys' basketball: Greenfield 23, Wayne Country Day 19 -- Drew Barnes and DJ Drew had six points apiece in the Chargers' regular-season finale. Wayne Country Day (10-9 overall, 2-2 CPIC) face Freedom in the tournament semifinals Tuesday.
* Girls' basketball: Greenfield 30, Wayne Country Day 23 -- Lexi Jeffreys paced the WCDS offense with eight points. Langley Barnes added seven. The Chargers (11-4, 3-3 CPIC) face Greenfield in the tournament semifinals Thursday.
* Girls' basketball: Wayne Christian 30, Cape Fear Christian 16 -- Beverly Tabe tallied 11 points and the Eagles (10-4 overall) claimed the No. 1 seed for the Eastern Carolina Christian Conference tournament. Madison Wells supplied 10 points. WCS faces Community Christian on Monday.
