Preps digest: JV, middle schools

* Boys' basketball: D.H. Conley 60, C.B. Aycock 32 -- Sophomore Michael Evans led the Golden Falcons with 12 points. Freshman Tayquan Hampton added eight points.
* Girls' basketball: D.H. Conley 49, C.B. Aycock 43 -- Hannah Vinson paced the Golden Falcons' offense with 21 points. Destiny Washington and Embria Willis added six and five points, respectively.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 48, Pope John Paul 21 -- Mitch Turnage led the Chargers' offense with 11 points, while Zach Barfield knocked down eight points. WCDS (12-2 overall, 5-0 CPIC) visits Greenfield on Friday.
* Girls' basketball: Wayne Country Day 42, Pope John Paul 8 -- Kaitlyn Daniels and Lexi Jeffreys collected 10 points apiece for the victorious Chargers. WCDS (9-3 overall, 3-2 CPIC) is the guest of Arendell-Parrott Academy today.
* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 75, Kinston 70 -- Sophomore Jaryan Hargis sizzled the nets for a game- and career-high 38 points in the Cougars' road win. Hargis sank five 3-pointers, shot 13 of 16 from the floor overall and converted all 7 free throw attempts. Aaron Smith added 10 points. Sophomore Daryl Gaddis and sophomore Deondre Pettiford collected nine and seven points, respectively.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Wayne Christian 35, Christ Covenant 8 -- Beverly Tabe and Abi Harrelson each scored 12 points for the Eagles. Wayne Christian (9-4 overall) travels to Cape Fear Friday.
