* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 23, Southern Wayne 11 -- Hannah Vinson led the way with 11 points for the Golden Falcons. Embria Willis dropped in eight points and Cassandra Lassiter scored four.
* Boys' basketball: Southern Wayne 56, C.B. Aycock 22 -- Michael Evans had seven points for the Golden Falcons in the loss. Southern Wayne stats were not submitted to the News-Argus.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 60, Greenfield 41 -- A 19-point win over Greenfield puts Wayne Country Day in sole possession of first place in the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference. Zach Barfield scored 14 points and Jack Talton added 12. WCDS (11-1 overall) entertains Trinity Christian of Fayetteville on Friday.
* Girls' basketball: Wayne Country Day 26, Greenfield 12 -- Kaitlyn Daniels and Lexi Jeffreys each scored 10 points for the Chargers. WCDS (8-3 overall) plays host to Trinity Christian of Fayetteville on Friday.
Middle schools
* Girls' baketball: Wilson Christian 31, Wayne Christian 27 -- Abi Harrelson scored 12 points and Madison Wells had six points in the Eagles' loss. Wayne Christian travels to Faith Christian of Rocky Mount next Monday.
* Boys' basketball: Greenfield 32, Wayne Country Day 20 -- Joey Democko scored six points for the Chargers. WCDS (10-6 overall) plays host to Trinity Christian of Fayetteville on Friday.
