Preps digest: JV, middle schools

JV

* Boys' basketball: New Bern 56, C.B. Aycock 18 -- Michael Evans emerged as the Golden Falcons' top scorer with six points. Blake Gipson, Semaj Yelverton, Marquez Farmer, Damone Greenfield and Matt Wildman contributed two points apiece.

* Girls' basketball: New Bern 45, C.B. Aycock 34 -- Sophomore Destiny Washington scored a team-high 14 points in the Golden Falcons' road loss. Cassandra Lassiter added eight points. Hannah Vinson supplied five points.

* Girls' basketball: Faith Christian 28, Bethel Christian 21 -- Amber Baker emerged as the Conquerors' top scorer with 10 points. Chloe Mills contributed five points.

Middle schools

* Girls' basketball: Wayne Christian 26, Community Christian 25 (OT) -- Beverly Tabe led the Eagles' attack with 13 points, including four in overtime before fouling out of the game. Abi Harrelson scored six points and Madison Wells had four. The Eagles (8-3 overall) played the final two minutes with just four players on the court.
