TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- Jordan McCain eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career and No. 18-ranked University of Mount Olive withstood North Greenville (S.C.) University, 74-67, on the Conference Carolinas men's basketball scene Monday evening.

McCain pumped in 19 points, giving him 1,004 for his career. Dontrell Brite provided 17 of his game-high 22 points in the opening half for the Trojans, who extended their win streak to five games. Brite also handed out six assists.

Mike Moore returned from an ankle injury and knocked down 11 points. Kendall Hargrove narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

North Greenville (10-6 overall, 5-5 CC) climbed to within 53-50 with 8:13 left in the second half. Hargrove's backdoor two-handed slam dunk and McCain's 3-pointer with 2:33 remaining pushed UMO's advantage to 69-58.

The 3 pushed McCain over the 1,000-point threshold.

"I knew I was close (to 1,000 points)," McCain said. "My parents kept telling me and my friends kept telling me. I just let the offense come to me."

The Trojans (16-2, 9-1) return home Friday for a pivotal contest against Conference Carolinas leader King (Tenn.) University. The Tornado won the previous matchup, 91-73, before a nationally-televised audience on CBS Sports Network.
