Preps digest: JV, middle schools

* Boys' basketball: Hilltop 39, Faith Christian 37 -- Ethan Glover led balanced Conquerors offense with 10 points. Landon Ginn scored nine points. Jordan Hill and Dylan Downey provided six points apiece. Faith Christian (1-7 overall) has lost its last three games by a total of seven points.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 73, Freedom Christian 44 -- Marcus Metcalf scored 23 points and John Strickland added 10 as Wayne Country Day crushed Freedom. The Chargers improved to 6-0.
* Girl's basketball: Freedom Christian 46, Wayne Country Day 11 -- Janae Jones scored five points to lead the Chargers in a 46-11 loss to Freedom. The Chargers fall to 4-2 on the season.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Wayne Christian 20, Community Christian 19 -- Madison Wells led the victorious Eagles with 10 points. Beverly Tabe (five points), Sarah Gibson (three points) and Kaylee Martin (two points) also contributed in the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference road win. The Eagles (5-3 overall) continue play Jan. 15 at Faith Christian of Rocky Mount.
* Boys' basketball: Grantham 48, Wayne School of Engineering 19 -- Jamal King dumped in a game-high 24 points for the Bulldogs. DeAndre Wright and Jordan Lee tallied 10 and 8 points, respectively. Grantham improved to 6-1 overall. Jaden Cooper led WSE with nine points. Two days earlier, the Bulldogs handed Norwayne a 48-36 defeat. Wright and King led the way with 19 and 13 points, respectively.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 32, Freedom Christian 27 -- Cooper Edmondson scored 12 points and Nehemiya Shaw had nine as the Chargers upended Freedom Christian on Thursday.
* Girls' basketball: Dillard 35, Rosewood 23 -- Nalexia Vann collected a game- and team-high 15 points for Dillard. Teammates Tyanna Morrison and T'Ziah Kelly contributed 12 and 8 points, respectively. Ar'zhane Dozier led the Eagles with 10 points. Dillard (5-2 overall) plays host to Norwayne on Monday.
* Boys' basketball: Greenwood 73, Brogden 35 -- Isaiah Wilder posted a double-double (27 points, 10 rebounds) in the T-Birds' victory. Christian Bullocks and Kris Clark tallied nine points apiece. Greenwood (6-1 overall) is the guest of Spring Creek on Monday.
