FAYETTEVILLE -- Wayne Country Day did not score until 2:30 left in the first quarter and never recovered in a 63-57 loss to No. 5-ranked Freedom Christian in a Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference game Thursday.
Joel Davis scored 23 points and PJ Hill chipped in 12 as the Chargers cut the lead to two in the third quarter.
WCDS could never get the bucket it needed to put it over the hump, despite playing a much closer game than the 80-46 rout they endured against FCA on Dec. 19.
Victor Miller grabbed seven boards for WCDS, who fell to 11-6 and travels to Trinity of Fayetteville on Tuesday.
