Victor Skinner earned a match-clinching, second-period fall and Eastern Wayne rallied past J.H. Rose, 36-31, on the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference scene.
Zach Thomas' pin and Jackson Sisk's two-point decision over the Warriors' Cainen Miller at 126 pounds gave the Rampants a 28-24 advantage. Eastern Wayne's Kyler Sprague pushed EW back in front 30-28 with a second-period pin over Rose's Jorge Hernandez at 132.
The lead changed hands again when Alex Hammond squeezed out a 3-1 triumph over EW's Rudy Rosales at 138. But Skinner, wrestling at 145 pounds, put the Warriors over the top with a 2-minute, 30-second pin of Austin Lantz in the night's final match.
EW also received individual wins from Andre Smith, Andre Collie, heavyweight Bryant Wooten and Mario Harper. Smith, Collie and Wooten each pinned their respective opponent.
Harper drew a forfeit.
The Warriors return home today for the five-team Battle at Little Big Horn. Opening-round matches begin at 4 p.m. in the old gym.
