SEVEN SPRINGS -- Injury- and illness-plagued Spring Creek received double-digit scoring efforts from Amber Buchan and Tysha Teachey in a 64-33 loss to Lakewood on Tuesday evening.
It was the Carolina 1-A opener for both teams.
Buchan, who played on a bum ankle, knocked down a team-high 17 points. Despite painful shin splints, Teachey collected 14 points -- including 12 in the paint.
The Gators dressed just seven players for the game.
SC head coach Charlie Cotten said four girls didn't play due to sickness, while two other players may be lost to season-ending injuries.
"It was a very good effort from our previous games," Cotten said. "They played under control. They played smarter, they slowed the game down and I was really proud of them tonight."
Rashyda Parker paced the Leopards with 22 points, including 10 on five offensive putbacks. Justina Henry added 14 points. The Leopards had 21 steals and 12 assists as a team.
Spring Creek (0-8 overall, 0-1 CC) entertains Hobbton on Thursday.
