Wayne Christian girls finish 3rd at Heritage Invitational

ZEBULON -- Down to five players, including two with four fouls, Wayne Christian battled back to defeat Cornerstone Christian, 35-28, in the consolation game of the Heritage Christian Academy Holiday Invitational.
The Eagles, had one player foul out in the third quarter, took command with a 16-2 run in the final period of play.
Abi Harrelson led Wayne Christian with 13 points. Summer Rose and Holley Gurley chipped in eight points apiece.
Wayne Christian opened the Invitational with a 30-28 loss to Garnett Christian. The Eagles nearly erased a 14-point deficit and just missed converting the game-winning bucket in the final five seconds of regulation.
Madison Wells led WCS with six points. Rose and Gurley each tallied five points.
The Eagles improved to 1-1 overall.
