* Girls basketball: Wayne Country Day 43, Wilson Christian 11 -- Lexi Jeffreys outscored the entire Chargers team with a 26-point effort Thursday afternoon. Summer Daniels added six points for the Chargers, who improved to 3-0 this season. WCDS plays host to St. Mary's next Friday at 4 p.m.
Middle schools
* Boys basketball: Wayne Country Day 43, Wilson Christian 30 -- Sam Dively drained six 3-pointers and finished with 22 points in the Chargers' non-conference win. DJ Drew chipped in six points. Wayne Country Day (3-1 overall) plays Goldsboro Heat on Monday. Tip-off is 5:30.
