ROCKAWAY, N.J. -- Princeton running back Johnny Frasier is one of 16 finalists nominated for the U.S. Army Player-of-the-Year award, which is determined by the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee.

The award is presented to the nation's most outstanding senior high school football player.

Rated among the state's elite running backs, Frasier has cobbled out 2,000-plus yards and scored 29 touchdowns. He's helped lead the No. 3-ranked Bulldogs (11-1 overall) to the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1-A playoffs for the third consecutive year.

"Wow, an incredible honor to even be considered for," said third-year PHS head coach Derrick Minor when informed of Frasier's nomination Wednesday evening.

"For Johnny to be considered for the (All-Star) team, but now to be considered as player of the year is amazing. It's an honor for Johnny, this program and this community."

Coaches from around the country, along with the selection committee, evaluated players earlier this fall. The six finalists will be announced Dec. 2 and the player of the year will receive the prestigious Ken Hall Trophy during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Awards Show on Jan. 3, 2015, in San Antonio.

Hall was nicknamed the "Sugar Land Express" during his prep days.

The All-American Bowl has been the springboard for numerous future collegiate and NFL stars. A total of seven U.S. Army All-American Bowl alumni were selected in the opening round of the 2014 NFL draft.

Princeton entertains Camden County in second-round playoff action tonight. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at Harvey Brooks Field.
