DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne surrendered 56 first-half points to No. 1-ranked and unbeaten New Bern, but held them scoreless in the second half of a 56-0 loss in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play.
"We did not play with a lot of confidence in the first half, but in the second half we were much more focused and played much better," SW head coach David Lee said. "We made a few plays on special teams, but overall we have to tackle better on defense and move the chains on offense."
Tyaire Allen and DJ Graham combined for 2 of 12 passing for 29 yards and four interceptions. Allen led the Saints with 62 yards of total offense.
