Ayden-Grifton charges past Goldsboro in ECC 2A football

LITTLEFIELD -- Goldsboro managed just two first downs in a 34-0 loss to Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference foe Ayden-Grifton on Friday night.
The Cougars combined for 15 carries and 30 yards on the ground, while quarterback Nashir Bowden was 10 of 23 for 71 yards passing. Goldsboro's leading receiver, Joe Baker, was held without a reception.
Goldsboro had three players register double-digit tackles. Jamal Gaddy led the team with 15, followed by Taylin Davis with 11 and Sterling Dodson with 10. Ray'quan Griffin picked off his third pass of the year.
Goldsboro (2-7 overall, 1-2 ECC) plays host to North Lenoir next week.
