CALYPSO -- Duplin County rival James Kenan didn't need to air it out Friday night.
Instead the state-ranked Tigers took the "ground-and-pound" approach and rushed for 307 yards as a team during their 42-8 triumph over North Duplin at H.E. Grubbs Field.
Jaquan Williams led the rushing attack with 118 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown. Al Owens added 58 yards rushing and Khalil Savage had 56 and a touchdown on the ground.
Quarterback Ken Avent III had two rushing touchdowns, and completed 8 of 10 passes for 70 yards. The first-year varsity starter threw a 23-yard touchdown to Greg Washington -- his ninth TD reception of the season.
North Duplin's defense recovered two of three forced fumbles, blocked an extra point and blocked a field goal.
Brion Kornegay scored on a five-yard scamper early in the fourth quarter to get the Rebels on the board. It was Kornegay's first time finding the end zone since week one against Southside.
Emiliano Mora led the team with 66 yards rushing on 15 carries.
North Duplin (3-4, 0-2 Carolina) is the guest of Rosewood on Friday, while No. 2-ranked James Kenan (6-1, 3-0 CC) visits Lakewood.
