Wayne Country Day conceded the game-winning goal on a deflection with less than two minutes remaining in regulation to fell 2-1 to Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A nemesis Greenfield on Thursday.
Matt Kierski scored in the second half on an assist by Tony Townsend for the Chargers' lone goal.
"It was a tough loss for the lads," WCDS coach Steven Ellis said. "They didn't deserve to lose like that. We completely dominated the second half and then they score a deflected goal at the end."
WCDS (12-5-1 overall, 4-2-0 CPIC) concludes regular-season play Tuesday at Faith Christian of Rocky Mount.
