Preps digest: Middle schools, Neuse River YFL

Middle schools
* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Wayne School of Engineering 25-15, 25-15, 25-18 -- The Cobras improved to 9-1 overall this season and visit unbeaten Rosewood on Thursday.
* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Eastern Wayne 25-13, 25-13, 25-22 -- Braylee Butts paced the Eagles with six service aces. Taylor Smith recorded four aces and four kills.
* Boys' soccer: Rosewood 7, Eastern Wayne 3 -- Geovanni Abril posted two goals and one assist for the once-beaten Eagles. DeVante Phillips contributed two goals, while Logan Mitchell provided one goal and two assists. Taylor Acord and Hayden Maldonado tallied one goal apiece. Tanner McKeel and Cole Matthews each posted an assist. Rosewood (7-1-0 overall) faces Norwayne on Thursday.
* Boys' soccer: Spring Creek 6, Dillard 3 -- Jose Reynaga and Alex Castaneda scored two goals apiece for the Gators. Marquise Newell and Ramiro Castaneda each had one gola. Spring Creek (5-0-3 overall) entertains Rosewood next Monday.
* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Dillard 25-17, 25-10 and 25-8, 25-11 -- Amanda Haggerty, Madison Sullivan and Kaitlyn Jordan all served well in the Gators' sweep of Dillard on Monday afternoon. Spring Creek improved to 6-3 overall and 3-2 against Wayne County Middle Schools Athletic Conference Division I opposition.
Neuse River YFL
* 8-Under: Boys Club 32, Spring Creek 7 -- Zavian Oates rushed for a pair of touchdowns and threw a 40-yard scoring pass to Darius Robinson during the Cougars' victory Monday evening. Robinson and J. Dewitt each had a rushing TD. The Boys Club (6-0 overall) concludes regular-season play at home next Monday against Rosewood. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m.
