Uzzell sparks Wayne Country Day in CPIC volleyball opener

GREENVILLE -- Wayne Country Day opened Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference play with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-22 victory over scrappy Pope John Paul II Catholic School on Tuesday evening.
Rachel Uzzell had 25 assists to lead the way for the Chargers.
Tiffany Larsen and Sarah Crooks combined for 17 kills and eight aces.
"We've had some struggles leading into our first conference match tonight," head coach Steven Mau said. "But these girls continue looking forward at the next challenge and rising to it."
The Chargers (2-4 overall, 1-0 CPIC) play host to Wayne Christian on Thursday.
