"Going back to East Mississippi, I think it helped a lot and it taught me some new things as a player and person," said Reid, who departed the JUCO scene as the nation's 12th-best college player in the nation, according to 247 Sports.
"I've learned to play with better technique coming off the ball. As a person, I've learned you never take anything for granted because you never know what could happen, and how to stay humble."
Reed participated in Alabama's annual Golden Flake A-Day Game and helped lead the White to a 17-13 victory over Crimson. He recorded one assist in the spring affair.
Reed hopes to help lead Alabama to its seventh consecutive 10-win season and 34th overall in program history.
Reed is the first player in Goldsboro High history to play in the Division I ranks since Jacob Sykes played for head coach Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech.
