JV football: Williams directs Warriors to season-opening win

La GRANGE -- Malik Williams threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Jawan Holmes with 6:45 remaining in the fourth quarter to give Eastern Wayne 26-22, season-opening win over North Lenoir on Thursday evening.
Holmes also hauled in a 38-yard TD pass earlier in the game. Williams ran for a 50-yard touchdown and returned a punt 48 yards for another score.
Zere Best led the defense with 10 tackles, Jalen Cooper had seven tackles and Tanner Hite had six.
Tysean Roberts blocked two punts for the Warriors.
