Future Appalachian State teammates Bobby Hampton and Reed Howell earned spots on the N.C. Baseball Coaches Association all-state teams on Monday afternoon.
North Duplin's Trey Pate was chosen for the 1-A all-state team. North Lenoir's tandem of Landon Letchworth and Tyler Smith were chosen for the 2-A all-state team.
Hampton, a rising senior at Charles B. Aycock, was selected to the Class 3-A team. A utility player who verbally committed to ASU, Hampton helped lead the Golden Falcons to 18 victories and was picked as the 2014 News-Argus All-Area pitcher-of-the-year.
Howell, who signed a national letter-of-intent with the Mountaineers, helped guide Rosewood to a 20-win and its first appearance in the eastern 1-A regional championship series since 2010. Howell earned all-Carolina Conference honors and was named the 2014 News-Argus All-Area player-of-the-year.
Pate fashioned an 8-2 record and 1.14 earned run average (ERA) for the Rebels.
A Gardner-Webb signee, Letchworth logged a 7-0 worksheet and microscopic 0.85 earned run average on the bump for the Hawks. Smith batted .355 with a team-leading six home runs and 29 RBI, and was named the Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference player-of-the-year.
