CBA Blue 5, Eastern Wayne 3

* Charles B. Aycock Blue scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning and claimed a 5-3 win over Eastern Wayne in divisional play of the Eastern Carolina Baseball League Monday evening.

Kyle Davis had three hits, while Bobby Hampton had two hits including a double and an RBI. Jacob Sanford added a double.

Colin Nix hit a solo home run for Eastern Wayne. Andrew McKeel batted 3-for-4 and Lee Daniels contributed two hits in the loss.

Trent Herndon got the win on the mound and Ashton McGee recorded the save. Nix endured the loss for Eastern Wayne.

CBA Blue improved to 2-0 overall. Eastern Wayne fell to 0-3.

CBA White 5, North Duplin 4

* Nolan Harell had two doubles and two RBI, and CBA White triumphed over North Duplin 5-4.

Chandler Matthews, Chris Turner, Ryan Kearney and Bradley Pate each had a hit apiece. Pate and Matthews combined to drive in three runs.

Jordan Gay, Trey Jordan and Matthews combined to strike out 10 batters in the win.

Wayne Christian 9,

North Lenoir Green 1

* Wayne Christian took advantage of five North Lenoir Green errors in its 9-1 victory in ECBL divisional play.

Wayne Christian scored eight of its nine runs in the first two innings.

Hunter Burt and Austin Howell each had two hits for Wayne Christian. Brandon Price stroked a solo homer. Tanner Rose, Holden Foster and Jaxon Andersone also each contributed one hit to the effort.

Foster got the win on the mound. Howell and Rose pitched 22/3 innings of one-hit scoreless relief.

North Lenoir White 5-10,

Spring Creek 1-0

* North Lenoir swept a doubleheader from Spring Ceek in ECBL play on Monday evening.

In game one, Kaden Geelin and Cole Jacobs each had a hit to lead the Gators. Jordan Lebron endured the loss in four innings of work.

In game two the Gators were one hit by the Hawks who scored 10 runs combined in the second and third innings for a 10-0 five-inning mercy-rule win.

Levi Miller had the lone hit for the Gators.

Jensen Barwick endured the loss for Spring Creek.

Spring Creek (1-4 overall) plays host to Bethel today.

Golf

Another albatross

* There must be something in the city water.

After an albatross and rash of hole-in-ones during May, the same trend continues into June.

This time, Joe Pritchard recorded an albatross on the par-4, No. 3 hole at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course. Playing partners Phil Talerico, Wayne Bailey and Jim Daniels witnessed the feat.
