Princeton softball slips past South Creek

PRINCETON -- Carolina Conference champion Princeton continued its postseason run with a 7-4 victory over South Creek on Saturday evening.
The Bulldogs (17-4 overall) travel to once-beaten Pinetown Northside on Tuesday for a third-round game in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A playoffs. First pitch is 6 p.m.
Northside (21-1) advanced with an 18-2, mercy-rule victory over Rosewood on Friday evening.
Hailey Wood and Tori Paul combined for a three-hitter and seven walks inside the pitcher's circle. Wood logged four strikeouts in five innings of work, while Paul recorded seven strikeouts in a two-inning stint.
Wood paced the offense with four hits, including a double, and four RBI. Carson Braswell and Lenoir Community College signee Savanna Massengill (RBI) provided two hits apiece.
Charley Cox doubled in four official plate appearances and scored one run. Paul (RBI) and Kortney Edwards each had one hit.
Princeton improved to 10-0 at home this season.
