Cannon leads Hawks into 4th round

La GRANGE -- Orlando Cannon scored the game-winning run on a passed ball in the sixth inning and North Lenoir upended South Granville 3-2 in the third round of the NCHSAA 2-A playoffs.
Tyler Smith hit his third home run of the playoffs. Luke Jackson, Noah Reese and Orlando Cannon each contirbuted hits for the Hawks.
Smith started on the mound allowing two runs on two hits and striking out six in five innings.
Orlando Cannon pitched two scoreless frames in relief.
North Lenoir (19-5 overall) travels to Currituck County on Friday.
