JACKSONVILLE -- Jacksonville scored the initial goal eight minutes into the opening half and cruised to a 9-0, mercy-rule win over Charles B. Aycock in second-round action of the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A playoffs.

The game was called with 10 minutes left in the second half.

"They're the best team we've played by far this year," said CBA's Kevin Adkins. "They move the ball from side to side ... was just pretty to watch. It's been an up-and-down year, but not too bad. You just roll with the punches and look forward to next year."

The Cardinals led 4-0 at halftime and held the Golden Falcons to four shots on the night.

Six seniors played their final game for CBA -- Alex Strickland, Emily Borel, Anja Kliss, Cady Sheeks, Mariah McHale and Myra Waheed. Strickland concluded the year with 38 goals.

The Golden Falcons finished the year 10-9-1 overall.
