BANNER ELK -- The University of Mount Olive's Dylan Lafond emerged as a Conference Carolinas champion in four individual events during the season-ending track and field championship meet contested at Lees-McRae College.

Lafond successfully defended his 5,000- and 10,000-meter crowns. The sophomore claimed the 3,000-meter steeplechase after finishing runner-up as a freshman, and also captured the 1,500-meter run.

Angus Sinclair won the high jump title.

The Trojans' foursome of Stedmond Hampton, Eric Jones, Cedric Thomas and Lamonte Taylor won the 400-meter relay.

Aerostata Brown repeated as the triple jump champion. Teammate Tunisia Prince bested the competition in the 100-meter dash and high jump.

Each individual event and relay champion received all-Conference Carolinas first-team accolades.

UMO won the men's and women's team titles. The men defeated Limestone 129-114, while the women scored a 172-129 decision over North Greenville (S.C.) University.

SUMTER, S.C. -- No. 3-ranked Limestone (S.C.) claimed its sixth consecutive Conference Carolinas tournament championship with an 18-7 triumph over the University of Mount Olive on Sunday afternoon.

John Schwartz and Alex Tindall provided two goals apiece for the second-seeded Trojans, who are in just their second year of existence. Matt Shields, Spencer Gelinas and Stephen Bowlan each had one goal.

The Shields brothers, Matt and Dan, and Tindall each handed out one assist. Goalies Ross Bowman and Dorian Grabek combined for 13 saves against the Saints.

Tindall notched the Trojans' first goal off of Dan Shields' assist around the 9-minute mark of the opening quarter. Gelinas' unassisted goal trimmed Limestone's advantage to 3-2 with 5:46 left in the first.

The Saints (15-1 overall) scored six of the game's next seven goals during a 21-minute span. Bowlan accounted for the Trojans' lone goal -- an unassisted mark that dropped into the net with 3 seconds left before halftime.

Limestone owned a 46-27 advantage in shots and won 22 of 28 face-offs. The Saints and Trojans (13-3) were a combined 0-for-2 on man-up opportunities.
