Rebels earn 1-1 split on softball diamond

Mikayla Koch batted 5-for-5 and collected three RBI during North Duplin's 13-0, mercy-rule conquest of East Duplin during the Duplin County Easter Invitational.
Rylee Pate contributed three hits and two RBI. Shaily McCarty (two RBI), Christin Boykin (RBI) and Haley Thurston (RBI) each had two hits.
Brooke Cottle (RBI), Mary Beth Barwick (RBI) and Cheney Brown (RBI) provided one hit apiece.
McCarty and Pate combined for nine strikeouts inside the pitcher's circle.
The Rebels endured a 14-5 loss to Wallace-Rose Hill opening day. Koch batted 2-for-3. McCarty and Barwick (three RBI) each provided one hit.
Pate recorded nine strikeouts and took the pitching loss.
North Duplin is 6-5 overall this season.
