North Duplin swipes 8 bases against James Kenan

WARSAW -- North Duplin stole eight bases and pounded out 11 hits in a 13-0, mercy-rule conquest of county and Carolina 1-A Conference rival James Kenan on Friday evening.

Tyler Potter provided two hits, drove in three runs and was one of two Rebels to successfully steal two bases in two attempts. Charlie Mac Hollman finished 2-for-2 on stolen-base attempts, collected two hits, drove in one run and scored three runs.

Trey Pate batted 4-for-5 with four RBI. Cedric Kornegay (RBI), Kaleb Brock and Taylan Lewis each contributed one hit.

Cody Ivey earned the mound win in relief of James Britt.

One night earlier, the Rebels clubbed four home runs in an 18-1, mercy-rule thrashing of conference foe Lakewood.

Bryce Best (1-for-2, 2 RBI), Potter (2-for-3, 3 RBI), Blake Rhodes (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Pate (1-for-3, 2 RBI) each went yard for the Rebels. North Duplin had nine extra-base hits on the day.

Kornegay (three RBI), Boone McNeil (RBI) and Hollman (three RBI) helped the Rebels' offensive cause.

Pate and James Britt combined for 11 strikeouts on the mound. Pate claimed the win.

North Duplin (4-1 overall, 3-0 CC) entertains Hobbton on Tuesday.
