Wayne Country Day committed five costly errors during the final three innings and suffered a 10-2, non-conference defeat against Pungo Christian Academy on Friday afternoon.
Pungo also benefited from eight walks issued by four WCDS pitchers.
John Strickland took the pitching loss.
"Our pitchers did a good job on the mound," 12th-year Chargers head coach Michael Taylor said. "They just have to get the walks down and our infielders have to play behind our pitchers."
Strickland, Mitch Turnage, Mason Blank (RBI) and Parker Smith each had one hit for Wayne Country Day.
The Chargers (2-1 overall) play at home Tuesday against No. 1-ranked Freedom Christian in the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference opener for both teams.
