Trojan women net Conference Carolinas tennis road win

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The University of Mount Olive swept the singles and doubles courts during a 9-0 victory over Conference Carolinas women's tennis foe Converse (S.C.) College.
The Trojans won four of six singles matches in straight-set fashion. Third-seeded Roxanne Chouinard prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 slot.
Alejandra Hernandez, Paulina Delgado, Maite Belloso, Francesca Ceppi and Samara Paldinho each clinched a singles point.
Ceppi-Chouinard, Hernandez-Belloso and Paldinho-Delgado combined to give the Trojans a 3-0 advantage after doubles play.
Mount Olive (8-2 overall, 3-1 CC) entertains Peach Belt member UNC Pembroke on Tuesday. First serve is 2 p.m.
Men's volleyball
HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Angel Dache recorded a total of 30 kills as the University of Mount Olive posted a 2-0 record during the Coker College men's volleyball tournament.
The Trojans defeated the host Cobras 25-27, 25-23, 25-18, 25-22 and future Conference Carolinas foe Emmanuel (Ga.) 13-25, 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 15-6.
Steven Cruse added 15 kills in the win over Coker.
Mount Oilve (10-9 overall) returns home Wednesday for a match against Ivy League member Princeton. First serve is 7 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
Women's lacrosse
MOUNT OLIVE -- Alysha Kulka's goal with less than four minutes remaining helped squash a rally and propel the University of Mount Olive past Shorter College, 11-6, in a non-conference match contested at Amon Field.
Kulka scored off of an assist from Katie McGovern, who notched two goals on the night. Riann Daziel and Alexa Milus provided two goals apiece.
The Trojans (5-2 overall) play host to Brevard on Wednesday afternoon. Game time is 4 p.m. at Amon Field.
