Almontaser shines in track meet

Marquail Almontaser captured first place in three events during a four-team Carolina 1-A Conference meet Monday afternoon.
A senior, Almontaser won the triple jump (38 feet, 9 inches), 110-meter hurdles (17;5) and 300 hurdles (47.6).
Teammates Zack Barnes (high jump), Montonio Wheeler (long jump), Dalton Farmer (1,600), Brendan Trinidad (400) and Tronqull Blue (200) also placed first on the day. The Eagles also claimed the 3,200 relay.
Spring Creek senior Gage Abbott seized first place in the 800 and 3,200 runs. The Gators won the 400 and 800 relays.
Rosewood compiled 147 points. Spring Creek finished second with 49 points, followed by James Kenan (33) and North Duplin (12).
