Princeton takes twinbill from Goldsboro

PRINCETON -- Princeton swept a non-conference doubleheader from Goldsboro 9-1 and 5-4 on Monday afternoon.
Matt Edwards led the Dogs in the opener with two hits and four RBI.
Jared Howard (RBI), Cayce Herring, Kenny Stempien and Isaiah Core each had a hit for the Cougars. Herring took the mound loss.
In the nightcap, Princeton scored four first-inning runs and beat Goldsboro for the 10th time in the past five seasons.
Howard, Stempien, Core (RBI) and Zach Falconer (RBI) had one hit apiece. Sterling Dodson and Thomas Vick each drove in a run.
Falconer endured the pitching defeat.
Weather permitting, Goldsboro (1-4 overall) continues play Wednesday at Neuse Charter.
