CBA's Wheeler tosses 5-hit shutout

WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock's Mackenzie Wheeler threw a complete-game shutout in a 6-0, non-conference win over Wilson Hunt on Wednesday afternoon.
In her first-ever start inside the circle, Wheeler scattered five hits and struck out one Hunt batter. Wheeler helped her cause offensively with three hits and three RBI.
N.C. State signee Meredith Burroughs batted 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Campbell signee Cierra Harris, Connor Vinson, Madison Walton and Katie Gay contributed one hit apiece.
Keeley Fulgham led the defense with eight putouts.
C.B. Aycock (1-1 overall) entertains New Bern on March 11 in the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference opener for both teams.
