Eastern Wayne girls bumped from 3A hoops playoffs

Eastern Wayne's season came to a close with a 50-49 loss to Cardinal Gibbons in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A playoffs on Wednesday evening.
Jasmine Covington led the Warriors 13 points and seven rebounds. Elondia Grant had 10 points and three steals. Shontel Monk provided nine points, three steals and five assists.
Naheria Hamilton supplied six points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots.
Eastern Wayne shot 18 of 64 from the floor, including 4 of 17 from behind the 3-point arc. The Warriors concluded the year 12-9 overall.
