EW girls advance to ECC 3A/4A semifinals

Eastern Wayne defeated Charles B. Aycock 58-40 in quarterfinal-round play of the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference tournament on Tuesday evening.
Naheria Hamilton led the Warriors with 13 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shots. Shontel Monk contributed 10 points, five rebounds and five steals. Jasmine Covington scored nine points. Elondia Grant and Mierra Reid each had eight.
Taylor Daniels paced the Golden Falcons with 15 points and Myleah Jones added seven points.
Eastern Wayne (11-7 overall) travels to D.H. Conley on Thursday.
