Cougars' Martens finishes 5th in 500-meter dash

WINSTON-SALEM -- Goldsboro senior Christian Martens earned fifth place in the 500-meter dash during the N.C. High School Athletic Association Classes 1-A/2-A indoor track and field championships contested at the JDL Fast Track.
Martens posted a time of 1 minute, 10.38 seconds.
Rasheid Malette ended up seventh in the 300 at 37.7 seconds.
James Clyde and Queshawn Bowden finished ninth and 11th, respectively, during preliminary-round action in the 55-meter dash.
