Rosewood girls turn back Cleveland

CLAYTON -- Sophomore Lexi Mercer posted a double-double and Rosewood knocked off Cleveland, 48-38, in opening-round action of the Cleveland Christmas Classic on Friday evening.
Mercer collected 26 points and 16 rebounds for the Eagles, who improved to 8-1 overall this season. The second-year varsity starter converted 8 of 18 field goals and 9 of 11 free throws in the 32-minute contest.
Alicia Burns provided 10 points.
Deziree Baker hauled down 14 rebounds, while Callie Thornton pulled down seven. Hayley Mercer picked the Rams for three steals.
