Eagles' Jones prevails on favorite XC course

Wayne Christian's Connor Jones was the top male runner in a nine-team meet held at Historic Waynesborough Park on Thursday afternoon.
Jones finished the race in 17 minutes, 33 seconds. Goldsboro's Victor Prezbindowski was second in 18:55. Wayne Christian's Spencer Foster finished in third place in 19:30.
Jackson Warren (20:40) was Wayne Country Day's top male finisher in eighth place. The Cougars' Christan Martens (20:53) finished in ninth place.
Wilson Christian claimed the team portion of the boys' race with 74 points. Wayne Christian (83), Goldsboro (94) and Wayne Country Day (102) were second, third and fourth, respectively.
Wilson Christian also won the girls' meet with a team score of 33 points. Freedom Christian recorded the only other team score at 108.
Wilson Christian's Nicole Joyner won the girls' race with a time of 22:45. Community Christian's Morgan Lane posted a time of 23:21 to finish second. Goldsboro's Grayson Collins was fifth in 24:18.
Wayne Christian's Sarah Allen recorded a 13th-place finish in 26:57. Margaret Tanner (28:45) was Wayne Country Day's top runner in 18th place.
