SALISBURY -- Mount Olive College freshman Alex Wetherholt tallied the lone goal in a 2-1, non-conference loss to in-state foe Catawba College on Wednesday evening.
It was Wetherholt's second goal of the season. Ellie Barnes had the assist.
Catawba tied the game at 1-1 in the 38th minute and scored the game-winning goal off of a corner kick with less than two minutes remaining in regulation.
MOC freshman goalie Stephanie McCoy collected four saves in her first collegiate start.
The Trojans (0-3-1 overall) open Conference Carolinas play at home Saturday against North Greenville (S.C.) University and entertain CIAA member Lincoln (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon.
