JV football: Eastern Wayne 28, Goldsboro 18

Eastern Wayne jumped out to a 20-6 lead by halftime on its way to a 28-18 win over Goldsboro on Thursday night.
Robert Gonzalez scored on a 3-yard touchdown run and a 54-yard touchdown pass from Joe Hays in the first quarter. Hays tacked on a 25-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.
Goldsboro finally got on the scoreboard with Dayquell Dawson's 1-yard quarterback sneak just before halftime.
The Cougars scored again on Eric Bufkin's 13-yard touchdown catch midway through the third quarter. Moments later, Gonzalez and Hays connected again on a 75-yard touchdown pass.
Goldsboro's Ronnie Tookes capped the scoring with a 12-yard touchdown reception late in the third quarter.
Darren Demps led the Warriors with eight tackles and three assists. John Amon and Dee South each had seven stops and two assists.
